In case you haven’t noticed, Ukraine has been making craters of Russian air defenses in recent weeks.

I think some of the “growth” will be lurkers that start posting more. The word of mouth or other social media growth will probably be very slow after the big surges of members from reddit.

The communities I browse seem more active or at least as active as they were a couple months ago.

The ability to not be killed by a single individual or entity.

Radicalized Palestine is “justification” to continue the genocide. Self fulfilling prophecy for Israel.

Russia is doing anything it can come up with to destabilize the world, especially in countries where Ukrainian aid is coming from.

I doubt the Israeli government is going to lose any sleep over murdering more innocent people. It’s disgusting.

Some people probably mean that, while others want a literal transplant or reddit without spez pulling the strings. Part of the challenge of new communities is figuring out what you are, and I think Lemmy is still deep in that stage.

This is how I see things as well. I moved away from lemmy.world because one of their updates completely fucked my account, and since then I’ve noticed more people doing the same, or complaining about issues with federation.

Anyone who expects Lemmy to become the new reddit is both setting themselves up for disappointment and missing out on the enjoyment of a smaller community imo. People can use reddit/facebook/twitter for doom scrolling if that’s their thing.

How common/uncommon is this? I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a unit being sanctioned rather than the government that gives them orders. Seems like a bullshit slap on the wrist.

Question one, who the fuck thought this?

Without going into too much detail (because it isn’t really my story to tell) a close friend of mine recently went through something that was very similar. The woman has passed now but the impact on the individual family members and the relationships within the family continue to play out. Almost none of it is positive.

There were some very hard decisions to be made and disagreements about how delicate the situation was or wasn’t. People drifted in and out of the picture in the final months and several aren’t on speaking terms now that she’s passed.

Before the mental decline everyone’s assumption was that there would be fighting about money and inheritance. As it turned out the argument was about human decency more than anything.

Again, I’m sorry you have to experience it. I don’t have anything more to offer than encouragement to do right by yourself and your loved ones wishes. Make sure you can live with a clear conscience.

What society? All society? Western society? American society? Russian society? It’s too broad a question, but-

The answer will always be greed over wealth and power imo. Greed drives basically all the evil in the world and pours down from top to bottom. We already see breakdowns in society when greed reaches levels that cause people to struggle to survive.

The response is almost always violent, until the balance of power is more equal. There are several nations around the world that are closer to collapse than people would like to believe.
