I remember them bragging about their displays being mercury-free, BFR free, etc and their laptops having totally recyclable aluminum and glass enclosures - only to later deliberately make their laptops nearly impossible to repair and upgrade.

Eh, sorta. It’s possible that the CGI files may have finally been located, but I’m not sure. As far as I know, the Blu-Rays will be 4x3 instead of the originally-intended 16x9 aspect ratio. The show was filmed in 16x9 and J. Michael Stracznski intended to have the CGI re-rendered at some point when it could be done faster and cheaper, but the files were lost before that could be done.
Yeah, the DVDs kinda were widescreen, but that’s because they were cropped from 4x3 to 16x9.

A lot of folks unfortunately think open-source software is much more vulnerable than closed-source software because anyone can inspect it. The great irony of it, as everyone here knows, the opposite is actually often true.
It doesn’t exactly help that there’s like 5-10 of each kind of thing.
For me, the worst part is actually the duplicate communities. Sure, it’s nice that newbies can have these duplicate subs so they don’t have to learn how to traverse the Lemmyverse, but it would be really nice if duplicates could be avoided. Like, maybe if Lemmy instances kept better records of communities on other instances.
