For anyone else reading this and thinking about trying linux for the first time, be sure to use Linux Mint. It will give you the smoothest and easiest experience, and you pretty much never need the terminal. It even comes with a really nice software store (but everything is free).

A not insignificant portion of online games utilize the steam friend system exclusively to enable inviting others to your party, and would not function otherwise. One example off the top of my head is Hunt: showdown.

I flew with a safety razor in my carry-on within the US, and no one seemed concerned. According to TSA, they’re chill as long as there are no blades, and it’d probably be a good idea to disassemble it too (which is what I did).

There is a dramatic difference between razors of different cutting efficiencies (basically, how much of the blade is exposed). Someone with light facial hair and sensitive skin would likely benefit from a milder razor to prevent needless skin irritation. There’s also designs that mimic the experience of a cartridge razor, such as the Hansen razor (makes it very hard to irritate or cut yourself even without learning safety razor techniques).

Walden’s recommendation of a vintage Gillette Tech is a good one, but if you have your grandfather’s razor, that indeed would be the best place to start, as it’s likely just as good as anything you could buy now.

AFAIK, Grayjay is not a closed source app, the source is on github, but he chose a license that restricts monetization and redistribution due to having concerns of people taking FOSS apps and repackaging them on app stores with added monetization or malware.

Gah! I wish so desperately that wasn’t the case, but I can’t dispute that. It really does feel like without investment in our rail network, there’s no good way of long distance travel, so it’s currently just a shit sandwich all around.

The interesting rub this time is the hardware. There’s tons of still powerful and useful CPU’s in use today that don’t support Windows 11’s TPM 2.0, so I wonder if that will push a few more people to Linux than when Windows 7 was EOL.

I think the point of the video is that there are backroom deals that secure Microsoft being chosen. The new mayor of Munich is a clear example of conflict of interest. Microsoft is clearly lobbying the French government as well.

The OG comment is referencing the body of this post, which are stats from the website. The website is using outdated steam stats, the comment is pointing that out.

The comment you replied to that was pointing that out was not corrolating the steam stats as general linux stats, only pointing out that the linux userbase on steam has grown since those outdated stats.

I think the original comment in this chain was mentioning that the stats from the statcounter website were using really outdated data for the percentage of Linux users on steam, I don’t think they were relating that stat to overall Linux usage.

Steam’s hardware survey reports 1.94% of their userbase is using Linux, beating Mac OS, which is at 1.38% respectively.

Not to mention plenty of Linux users don’t game at all

The Steamdeck is pushing the needle on that, creating a bunch of Linux gamers with some not even realizing it.
