“Earn”
You sure about that, champ?
“Earn”
You sure about that, champ?
Are you…ok?
Or Sting playing for Microsoft execs on an island retreat.
It’s like, they don’t need the money so what the hell are they doing?
Personally I’m excited that we kinda are hitting the reset button. It absolutely isn’t a guarantee but it’s closer than it’s ever been to working.
Capitalism is the attempt to keep feudalism going and it’s collapsing in on itself. With the speed that technology now moves within a person’s lifetime we can see how the usual tricks just don’t work as well. We’ve also got baseline regulations keeping things like lead out of the air and giving at least some basic human rights to people who historically would be kicked around by even the better societies. Rightwing parties are stronger and meaner because they’re afraid but their bases shrink even with the normally unifying nationalist rhetoric being pushed. Fuck even Israel is finally being told off and Hamas is being treated far closer to rebels than terrorists which, considering all the precedent set, is pretty extra wild!
We are moving forward. It doesn’t mean that there aren’t people fighting to hold us back but it’s happening anyway and will continue to happen so long as we keep standing up for ourselves.
The rules are “make anyone above you feel good about themselves because they’ll throw a hissy fit if you don’t make them feel special.” It’s pathetic and I’m tired of it.
In the same way that North Korea has “Democratic” in the name, sure. It’s all so surface level as to be essentially meaningless. While I agree that fairness does involve some arguing of that kind of a technicality it really only serves to validate the idea that Israel is justified in any way.
Israel wants to eradicate an entire culture and their people. They want to steal their land and are doing so with the help of major world powers. They bomb hospitals, shoot civilians, and terrorize Palestinians on the basis that they’re somehow owed that land. Hamas retaliated and now Israel is complaining by obliterating the entire country. The “peace” this lady wants is the peace for Israel to continue to do these things without retaliation. She doesn’t want peace, she wants submission.
The mega rich are just terrified of consequences and try, every day, to get their poor behaviour and lack of humanity written into laws and precedent so that they don’t have to ever to take blame for any of the rotten shit they pull.
It would be the same as ending the war Ukraine by letting Russia keep what they stole. Zero incentive not to keep doing it and it validates the side of the aggressor by saying “wow you both need to stop fighting”.
Right-wingers love to cite self-defense as reasons why they should own guns and be able to shoot people who simply knock on their front door but the second a brown person does it after years of being systematically oppressed/genocided suddenly they’re just as guilty as the oppressor, if not more so.
In short, wanting peace in that way is a pretty little lie meant to legitimize terror campaigns and invalidate the damage done to the victims. It’s full of horseshit.
Relying on a hope that someone will do good is, and always has been, a terrible idea. We need to fix that shit at its core.
Considering what an awful job they do with everything they touch maybe we should just can the whole company and give that back to the people of the world who’ve needed to suffer under their bullshit for far too long.
They can keep some money for Excel, I guess.
Ah, I misread(the y in “they” is missing and I got thrown off haha)
Dude that would be funny as hell and Microsoft fucking deserves it. They don’t make a single quality product; all they seem to be able to do is reskin a ‘90s Windows OS as a worse product for ten thousandth time and close competitors so they don’t need to do any real work.
We’d get to watch Microsoft somehow destroy it, which would be as amazing as it would be awful. They really know how to make a great product terrible.
Though, who am I kidding, they’d just close the entire thing down and expect people to switch to their store. That’s all capitalism’s “competition” is good for these days.
Thank god you didn’t feel better!
Haha you get me. But man, just the battery? I would have eventually smashed it to pieces with my bare hands, blinked, and it’d still be there like nothing had happened at all.
I used to keep my phone under my pillow(no night table) with an alarm on it.
“Stressed” is not lightly used when I talk about how it felt for my phone to go off and not stop. Alarm off, power off, under a pillow, thrown away, even smashed and snapped in two it would always keep ringing because, of course, in the real world it was under my head and never changing. Once I woke up proper and turned it off the silence was painful and I felt so unrested I very nearly cried.
It’s not an “emotional” nightmare, i.e. it didn’t pull at anything heavy on my mind or anything, but it was torturous as a “physical” one.
Leaving Windows is difficult for a lot of people as Linux is quite there yet for grandma and Apple products, while I love them, are expensive. Most people are moving to having it all on their phone, though, but that also means even less care about putting money or energy into a whole-ass computer.
Excel is good but for most people Google Sheets is fine(are cheaper). The rest of Office is crap.
The Xbox is certainly not worth it. Makes me sad because I like the controller more but that’s life, I guess. Besides, they didn’t invent it anyway, it was a Sega(I believe) thing.
For my part I’ll buy the controllers for PC games, and my friend is working on getting us reliable Linux setups, but for most people it’s not so easy. They don’t know what they don’t know, either.
It’s true, but you need the skill, and buying an expensive car will only get you so far.
“Fast” is the biggest number in a straight line. Life rarely offers straight lines.
Question: Is being a good listener about not speaking or about making sure the other person feels heard and understood no matter how that might present itself for that individual?
When you think about who you want to be be as vague as possible. Too specific and you might pigeon-hole yourself. It will be much easier to adjust bad surface level habits and ideas when they haven’t cemented themselves as core to your sense of being.
Chase the “why” more than the “what” and you’ll be able to be more versatile. You might find yourself to be kinder, stronger, more supportive, and be able to really trust in who you are at your core.
These far-right and otherwise insane ideologies need misinformation to work. Even with the ability to spread it being greater these days it’s also way to easy to doublecheck them with a solid level of confidence and they struggle to be consistent even amongst themselves. They still have power and we can’t get complacent but it sure could be a lot worse.
And then there’s Germany fielding a Nazi party and actually getting some traction lol
