Very. Pretty affordable and it just works. Granted, I don’t do much streaming or recording off of it, but have been complimented several times in meetings over Zoom, Zoho Meetings and Teams. The highest setting is 1080p@30 and I’ve had no issues at all.
It has a mic, but I don’t recall ever using it as Webcam microphones are known to be horrible.
I’ve been searching for a way to control my Kiyo X on Fedora. This is great. Thank you.
Is that you Rossmann?
Only if you use Windows or OEM/Stock Android. I happen to not see ads ever.
That is the solution. Connect your box to the internet, never the TV.
In this same subject, is there a way to set up pihole as DoT or at least DoH? Full disclosure, I have not done any research on this. The thought just came up while reading this thread.
This is gold. Thank you.
Now, where did I put that Katana?🤔
This is the unfortunate but absolute truth.
Oh, nice. Thank you, I’ll take it for a spin.
Went to look into it, and seems to be in very early stages. I’ll set up the flatpak on my computer and laptop to help where I can, seems like a very nice option. Do you know how to integrate it to Android? I could not find anything on that.
Edit: So it works from the KDEConnect Android app. Nice.
You need to take all your passwords out of LastPass and move to anything else. Bitwarden, ProtonPass, KeyPass, even Nextcloud, but run away from LastPass as soon as humanly possible. That shit and screaming your credentials at the top of your lungs while someone records it is the same crap.
KDEconnect or gsconnect if you’re on KDE or Gnome respectively.
Just voted and left a comment. Spot on suggestion.
I just have my kids, wife, close friends and in-laws on SimpleX.
Sure, some of them use mainstream stuff as well, but if they want to reach me, that’s their only option.
Matrix is a pretty good choice for self-hosted. The reason I don’t do it is because I’ve become lazy lately.
There are many laws that go entirely against the constitution of a country. You can start by looking at DMCA laws that violate a bunch of rights in MANY countries. Legally gray is falling short, those are illegal, and still get enforced because $$$
And even sadder is that users choose to still use those companies.
At the end of the day, we all have a choice. This happens to those that allow it. We try to stay safe from burglars, traffic accidents, illness, etc., but choose to still use these companies. That’s a choice, and there are ways to improve our lives, like removing them from our lives.
That could very well be the case. However, I would have to be seriously gullible to believe anything those closed companies promote an “independent” party paid by them found, moreso if the findings only serve to push their proven lies forward for "public perception’.
In this case it’s and actual independent party auditing open source code, that makes much more sense.
Just because dollars exchange hands doesn’t mean the data provided is invalid.
You are absolutely correct. What means the provided data is invalid is the fact that these companies are regularly found lying about how they handle our " privacy" or how secure they are. Just search for “Apple lied” and see all the instances and how they try to bury it all via PR bullshit.
I believe that, out of Amazon, Google, Meta, Microsoft and Apple, Apple is the lesser evil, but that means shit when they all do the same, just in different ways and at varying degrees.
Ah, here it is BMW drivers, most have Apple stickers on their cars, and they are all douchebags.
That’s to be expected. Linux distros are barely just getting their feet wet in the tablet/mobile world.
I have no use for tablets, but if I did, I’d certainly go the Linux way and deal with whatever I have to before ever thinking to use Apple, Microsoft or any Google OS.
