Interesting that you dropped Octopath Traveler. Maybe it’s the better choice.
I for myself have still been playing Super Mario 3D World. Got to the last world, finally. And yeah, the last level, Champion’s Road, is indeed very hard. I’ve already heard of it multiple times and yep, a real challenge. Not sure if I even want to continue. I guess it would be a great achievement to have beaten that level, but it’s not really that much fun to play a hard level over and over again. So maybe I’m just gonna stop here, with everything else at 100% exept that level.

I have also been playing Okami. The start wasn’t really that great, but I feel like it’s getting better the more I play. I’m still not really that far though, so I’ll have to see what else that game has to offer. I do like the paintbrush mechanic, it’s an interesting way to give the player more abilities the further you progress, and I’m looking forward to see what other ideas the devs have.
The artstyle is obviously pretty great, Okami’s visuals have hold up very well. It literally looks like you’re playing a painting.
Overall, I’m looking forward to playing it some more.

Yeah, that makes a lot more sense. Higher resolution, maybe better controls, and of course on a newer system. I just like to check games out on the console they originally released on, even if it’s usually not the best way to play anymore. I think it’s just interesting to see how a game was originally designed without any changes made to it.
Super Mario 3D World is very good. I don’t recall if I did all the endgame content or not, but I did finish it. I would actually like something like that again.
That’s why I came back to it. Having many, shorter levels is nice if you just want to play a while without sinking hours into a game at a time (but that’s still possible of course. Replaying a level mutiple times just to get every star, stamp or golden flagpole is cool, too). And besides that, 3D World is just a good game. Great music, controls, level design and a harder difficulty later if you want a real challenge.
I really hope the sequel is better. My brother got me a copy for my birthday a while ago. Haven’t played it yet, though I do look forward to it. I also heard it’s better than the first one. I’ll see.
I’m mainly playing Okami on PS2 currently, but that’s not a Nintendo console of course. When it comes to Nintendo, I’m playing Mario Kart DS every now and then. I’m finding a new appreciation for this game somehow. It’s really good. Great multiplayer game, cool courses, good music and of course the nice battle mode (forgot what it was called).
I’m also playing Super Mario 3D World again. I have a savefile that I started in, what, 2019? Got really far and played through the story, getting every green star along the way. I basically 100%ed the game until the Bowser world. For some reason, I stopped after that. I don’t remember planning that. I somehow just turned my Wii U off for the day and never returned to that game for some reason, I don’t know. In any case, I started playing through the extra worlds. 3D World really has a lot of endgame content. I’m interested to see if I can finally bring that savefile to 100%, even if it took me years. It’s still a great game btw, in case you never played it. I highly recommend it.

Unfortunately, I didn’t get much further than you are right now. Twice. I tried it twice.
The reason I gave up 2 times was the grinding. It gets ridiculous after you get the 8 characters. It got bad enough that it really destroyed any fun I had with the game. It really sucks, because I like everything else about OT.
Yeah, I’m planning to get a PS4 or maybe PS4 Pro as well. It’s a great deal considering the large library of games, many of which can be bought physically for relatively cheap.

The Wii U Pro controller in general was great. Best battery life I have ever seen on a controller. Great dpad thats clicky but still uses membranes so it’s still a bit softer than the one in the DSi or New 3DS systems. The sticks were incredibly smooth too for some reason. I would use it more today if it wasn’t for the lack of gyro, which is a dealbreaker for many games for me.
It’s such a shame. MK8 is turning a decade old soon. I just want a new MK. Fuck the Switch, man
Were you a dev back in the day that’s still mad at sony for not telling you by any chance? Just curious, because you seem like you have quite the problem with Sony not telling devs about the differences of a devkit.
That dev kits were more powerful? I looked it up and wasn’t able to find anything about that. Besides that, things like having more RAM is not uncommon on devkits if you mean that.
I love the PS2. Many great games, played a lot of Lego Star Wars II on it. I still play on mine every few days, it’s a great system. Games today aren’t like this anymore.
It wasn’t as underpowered as many people think. I know it’s easy to go like “yeah the cpus clockspeed is like 50% lower than the gamecubes and half as slow as the one in the xbox”, but really that’s just half of the story. The Emotion Engine was quite powerful in the right hands, you just needed to know how to fully use it, including the 2 vector units. There are enough games out there that show the PS2s full potential. The problem is that a lot of the earlier games didn’t really fully utilize the EE.
Man, TimeSplitters 2 is the goat. Still play it every now and then. Some levels weren’t that great, but the characters, multiplayer aspect and just the overall “goofyness” of the game really make it stand out

Well back then, Nintendo wasn’t like this, at least not on the home console market. The Gamecube was pretty powerful for its time, more so than the PS2 some would say.
I mostly agree with you. But really, the Wii U wasn’t that bad. It’s slow af, yes, but it’s still fun to use. More than the switch for sure. I’ve been revisiting the console a bit lately due to the Nintendo Network shutdown, and the funky menu with the music and the Miis still puts a smile on my face.

30fps would be a joke on the normal switch. All the Metroid Prime games are running at 60, even the MP Remaster. I’d be surprised if 4 would run at 30.
Were at the end of the generation, this game has been in development for years. If there’s a time where the devs really know how to use the hardware to its full potential, it’s now.
