  • it is shit like this that causes the consumer to choose between a cheaper but still overpriced GPU with unfinished software or the even more overpriced Nvidia option that has a more finished software and why intel’s cards failed so hard

same horse shit that is at fault for only have one true HDMI 2.1 GPU which is again Nvidia

making and keeping a monopoly is easier when your competitors are stunted as to what can be offered and when the user has no options kind of like that movie Tron

  • we only started these restores a year ago and when we did all the main distros and others were tested and researched on for this project

ultimately Arch was chosen due to pacman and the AUR repositories plus steam was using it

the shop packed the install with what they deemed universally needed packages including edge for the browser

most patrons do like the familiarity that it provides and edge allows for office365

a lot of us were super skeptical on this when we were told and had a lot of the same reservations but it has turned sales around one hundred percent though with a lot of ewaste saved

the oldest was a centrino laptop from 2007 had the original hdd in it

the patrons either use the console and update themselves or they bring it back for updates with some watching us do the updates then doing it themselves at home

linux has made computers fun again at least at our place

  • Cop City

Journalist and protesters in the US killed or imprisoned by cops

    Corporations using prison labor

More things are qualifying as jailable offenses such as people’s social status or medical conditions/events/etcetera or jobs

Cops are increasingly more prone to protect corporate interests over the public’s (who wrote that story The Last Capitalist the one were one man owned the earth including oxygen and sold it with cops protecting him?)

a president who back tracked on every campaign promise to address policing issues

the next election is against two people want to continue doing all the above and more

barely leave just for the grocery store anymore

it is getting worse your next trip outside could involve a black bag over our heads

fucking dystopian horror show like out there

  • too bad both presidential candidates are old and conservative

and Biden is Religious with a prosecutor for a vice president to boot who has backtracked on most of his campaign promises including his ones on cannabis which he did on day one of his presidency

legalization is decades away and with states and Native Americans legalizing the trouble for citizens will only get worse

there are already border patrol style policing going on at the borders of legal states, cities that are half recreational and or medical and half illegal, and thousands left imprisoned

that is yet another failed promise wrangling in the police even going as far as turning a blind eye to cop city

already a shit show and just going to get worse

  • the US thinks if it fixes a problem that all fifty states have but only fix it in a handful of states that it has solved the problem one hundred percent

meanwhile the citizens go “We have to start somewhere this is a great thing!” and the leaders never get criticized sometimes the opposite people vote them back in

then that is all you hear until the issues reach critical because everything was quarter assed at best

this is how abortion, cannabis, all kinds of insurances, education, food assistance, etcetera already are played in the US

and at that point the citizens and the states are to blame for why things suck so hard

“well they should have voted better over there it is their faults that state sucks!”

which drives us further from solutions

could you expand on this at all?

Arch Linux with a Gnome desktop with low core hardware even dual core a year ago on Wayland would not be a to play a video on VLC for a week straight no power offs or restarts without crashing and or some error

Fast forward to today and that same setup even without updating regularly will get you the same experience as Windows in regard to stability and being able to stay running without crashes or errors

Shout out to the Steam team for their contributions to Linux and yes use Arch btw and feel am able to make more changes to the system than before
